At 85, this mother, grandmother, and political icon remains a tireless activist, prolific author, and frequent lecturer. But because she is an unapologetic and outspoken conservative, she is demonized instead of lionized.

Please keep Mrs. Schlafly and her family in your prayers. She was scheduled to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Clare Booth Luce Policy Institute at CPAC on Saturday.

She will have to miss that award. Please don't send flowers; she has too many already.

Just put the baby in a garbage sack and toss

TAMPA, Fla.—Eighteen and pregnant, Sycloria Williams went to an abortion clinic outside Miami and paid $1,200 for Dr. Pierre Jean-Jacque Renelique to terminate her 23-week pregnancy.

Three days later, she sat in a reclining chair, medicated to dilate her cervix and otherwise get her ready for the procedure.

Only Renelique didn't arrive in time. According to Williams and the Florida Department of Health, she went into labor and delivered a live baby girl.

What Williams and the Health Department say happened next has shocked people on both sides of the abortion debate: One of the clinic's owners, who has no medical license, cut the infant's umbilical cord. Williams says the woman placed the baby in a plastic biohazard bag and threw it out.

Police recovered the decomposing remains in a cardboard box a week later after getting anonymous tips.

Public school teachers get pay raises from gaining seniority and from getting a master's degree in education. According to a recent Bill Gates lecture, those teachers with master's degrees in education actually do worse on the available performance measures.

University Uses Michelangelo Painting of God to Promote Condoms

During its recent Sexual Health Awareness Week, the University of Georgia placed posters in its dorms to promote condoms, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

The posters featured Michelangelo’s image of the hand of God giving life to Adam — except that between the two fingers was a condom. “Carefully open condom wrappers with your fingers — don’t use a sharp object,” advised the poster.

Pastor Sentenced to Jail

OAKLAND, Calif.: Today the Rev. Walter Hoye of Berkeley, California was sentenced to serve 30 days in county jail and fined $1,130.00 by Judge Hing of the Alameda Superior Court after being found guilty on January 15, 2009, of unlawfully approaching a person entering an abortion clinic in Oakland. The court is allowing Rev. Hoye to serve his time by an alternative method like community service. Rev. Hoye was also ordered to stay away from the clinic. However, Rev. Hoye refused this term of probation and would not agree to a stay-away order. Nonetheless, the judge is having the order drawn up and refused to accept Rev. Hoye’s decision not to agree to the stay-away order.

Dozens in the African-American community from around the nation who came out in support of Rev. Hoye were outraged by the sentence. The consensus of these leaders is that it was a travesty that Rev. Hoye was found guilty in the first place for standing in the gap for black children targeted by the abortion industry. Now they are simply enraged.

“It is absolutely incredible that in America an individual can be sentenced to jail for engaging in peaceful free speech activity on a public sidewalk,” remarked Allison Aranda, Staff Counsel for Life Legal Defense Foundation. Allison Aranda further stated “Rev. Hoye has a legal right to refuse onerous conditions of probation. Rev. Hoye will not and should not agree to give up his free speech rights. We will appeal.”

Young woman booted from team for being straight

Central Michigan University is being sued after one of their women's basketball players said she was kicked off the team due to her heterosexuality.

Brooke Heike was a high school basketball star who was aggressively sought after by several colleges that wanted the league MVP from Washington Township, Michigan, to continue her record-breaking rebounding and shot-blocking skills on their campus. After leading her team to its first conference title in 18 years as a high school senior, the 6-foot-2 forward decided to attend Central Michigan University, which offered her a full scholarship.

But Heike says she fell out of favor in 2007 with CMU's new women's basketball head coach, Sue Guevara, and was eventually kicked off the team. She claims the coach, who is allegedly lesbian, took issue with her heterosexuality. Cindy Rhodes Victor of the Victor Firm, PLLC is representing Heike.

"She was not only kicked off the team, but her scholarship was taken away because the coach kept telling her that she wasn't her 'type,'" Victor explains. "And when Brooke would ask what was that, [Guevara] would say 'I don't want you to wear makeup, you have a boyfriend, I don't want you to have a boyfriend...you're too girly girl' -- that type of thing."

Replacing Michelle

Some employees are simply irreplaceable. Take Michelle Obama, for example. The University of Chicago Medical Center hired her in 2002 to run “programs for community relations, neighborhood outreach, volunteer recruitment, staff diversity, and minority contracting.” In 2005 the hospital raised her salary from $120,000 to $317,000 — nearly twice what her husband made as a U.S. senator. Oh, did we mention that he had just become a U.S. senator? He sure had. Requested a $1 million earmark for the UC Medical Center, in fact. Way to network, Michelle! But now that Mrs. Obama has resigned, the hospital says her position will remain unfilled. How can that be, if the work she did was vital enough to be worth $317,000?

Teens spend average of 87 hours a year looking at porn online

The average teenager spends one hour and 40 minutes a week browsing sites for pornography, according to new research.

That equates to 87 hours a year spent surfing for porn. A further hour and 35 minutes is spent looking at dieting and weight loss websites.

The study of 1,000 youngsters found the average teenager was online 31 hours each week looking at soft pornography, plastic surgery, dieting, family planning and emotional support.

Gregg Withdraws as Commerce Nominee

New Hampshire Republican Sen. Judd Gregg has withdrawn his name from consideration as President Obama's commerce secretary, a major blow to an administration seeking to put a series of Cabinet problems behind it.

"It has become apparent during this process that this will not work for me as I have found that on issues such as the stimulus package and the census there are irresolvable conflicts for me," Gregg said in a statement to be released by his office. "Prior to accepting this post, we had discussed these and other potential differences, but unfortunately we did not adequately focus on these concerns."

Alinsky's Art of Communication Part 1

Saul Alinsky's son has gloated that Obama won because he adopted the principles in Saul Alinsky's book Rules for Radicals. Phyllis Schlafly's column "Community Organizing Explained" shows the connection between Obama's campaign success and Alinksky's rule book.

In the prologue to Rules for Radicals, Alinsky describes the "art of communication." Learning how to "communicate within the experience of [your] audience" is the most elementary rule for communication (xviii).

"The responsible organizer," for example, takes into account the values and beliefs of his audience and is careful not to offend these values while showing how the "the establishment" does not hold these values. Alinsky suggests that attacks on the American flag should be ruled out because "it is the establishment that has betrayed the flag while the flag, itself, remains the glorious symbol of America's hopes and aspirations, and he (the responsible organizer) would have conveyed this message to his audience" (xviii).

President Obama was able to communicate with and organize pro-life, mainline Protestants and Catholics by affirming, not attacking the pro-life message, using language like: we should work towards reducing the need for abortion. Obama is implicitly suggesting that he disagrees with "the establishment," who want keep baby killing legal, while glossing over the fact that "reducing" still allows for the abortion of the unborn.

Stimulus Paves Way for Government-Rationed Health Care

Per our most recent action alert and Betsy McCaughey's February 9, 2009 Bloomberg article, "Ruin Your Health With the Obama Stimulus Plan," let me give you a good example of what health care rationing is:

In 2006, a U.K. health board decreed that elderly patients with macular degeneration had to wait until they went blind in one eye before they could get a costly new drug to save the other eye. It took almost three years of public protests before the board reversed its decision.

Homeless Woman Asks for House at Obama rally--and gets one!

Henrietta Hughes begged president Obama for help today during his meeting in Florida.

The woman, who identified herself as Henrietta Hughes, said she was unemployed and homeless, and living with her family in a very small vehicle. “The Housing Authority has two years waiting list. We need something more than a vehicle and parks to go to. We need our own kitchen and our own bathroom.”

She pleaded, “Please help.”

President Obama walked over to her, and said, “We’re going to do everything we can to help you. I’ll have my staff talk to you after the town hall.”

Subsequently, Henrietta Hughes was offered a home by Chene Thompson, wife of State Representative Nick Thompson, who heard the homeless woman’s pleas for help to President Obama before a local and national crowd.

The house is in LaBelle, the first home [Chene] Thompson bought after law school. She told Hughes, “Just give me the opportunity to help you.”


Opinion: What do you think about this? Was Ms. Hughes strategically planted in the audience? How will she be able to pay the taxes on her new house? How does a homeless person who lives in a truck gain access to or knowledge of an Obama rally? Is it not odd that she was conveniently sitting in the very first seat of the front row? I guess planted questioners in the back of the crowd don't make for very good photo-ops.

Governent Healthcare - No Pain, No Gain

Buried in Obama's "stimulus" plan are socialist health-care provisions that Daschle says "will not be pain free."

The provisions include:

-storing your health care records electronically in a federal system
-penalties for doctors and hospitals that do not share your records with the federal government
-federal guidelines to reduce costs and “guide” your doctor’s decisions
-creating more bureaucracy called the "Federal Coordinating Council for Comparative Effectiveness Research" to determine when to replace costly treatments with a "hopeless diagnoses"

Jumping over the U.S. Constitution to Approve Treaties as "Statutes"

Our Congress and President have devised a plan to go around the U.S. Constitution ( which requires a treaties to be approved by a two-thirds vote in the Senate) by pushing global warming treaties as "statutes" through Congress. Statutes only require a majority in both houses of Congress to become law, which makes a statue easier to pass than a treaty.

The Brookings Institute brags that "Federal courts have repeatedly upheld the constitutionality of bicameral statutory approval of international pacts. In fact, the United States enters into more international agreements this way than by treaty, including some arms control agreements and environmental pacts and almost all trade deals."

Social services remove young children from grandparents and arrange adoption by gay couple

The five-year-old boy and his four-year-old sister were being looked after by their grandparents because their mother, a recovering drug addict, was not considered capable.

But social workers stepped in after allegedly deciding that the couple, who are aged 59 and 46, were "too old" to look after the children.

They were allegedly stripped of their carer's rights and informed they would be barred from seeing the children altogether unless they agreed to the same-sex adoption.

The distraught grandfather said: "It breaks my heart to think that our grandchildren are being forced to grow up in an environment without a mother-figure.

"We are not prejudiced, but I defy anyone to explain to us how this can be in their best interests.

CBO: Obama stimulus harmful over long haul

President Obama's economic recovery package will actually hurt the economy more in the long run than if he were to do nothing, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office said Wednesday.
CBO, the official scorekeepers for legislation, said the House and Senate bills will help in the short term but result in so much government debt that within a few years they would crowd out private investment, actually leading to a lower Gross Domestic Product over the next 10 years than if the government had done nothing.

The Obama Administration sees the polls trending sharply against the bill, and desperately tries to rush it to passage.

North Carolina's new Senator votes against religious freedom

Kay Hagan (D-NC) was elected to replace Elizabeth Dole in the U.S. Senate last November. Hagan won thanks to the support of many church-going North Carolinians both Democrat and Republican. So it's disappointing to see Hagan quickly turning into a yes-woman for the intolerant secular-progressive forces in Washington. Today, Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC) offered S Amdt 189 to the stimulus bill. This amendment allowed for the free exercise of religion at institutions of higher education that receive funding under section 803 of division A. Hagan joined the likes of Harry Reid and Chuck Schumer to defeat this amendment 54 to 43. A number of liberal senators including Joe Lieberman (I-CT) voted for the amendment. This adds to a growing list of disturbing votes by Hagan in the Senate:

1. Co-sponsor of the job-killing, trial lawyer bailout: the Lilly Ledbetter Act

2. Voted to confirm Eric Holder to lead the Justice Dept.

3. Caved in to the Senate leadership by withdrawing an amendment to the SCHIP bill, decreasing the cigarette tax from 61 cents to 24 cents a pack.

4. Voted with the secular progressives against S. Amdt 189, allowing for freedom of religion at funded colleges and universities

Does emailing your Senator really do anything?

Yes.

In Missouri, the nomination of Linda Martinez by Gov. Jay Nixon has upset the grassroots and emails have flooded into State Sen. Scott Rupp's office opposing Martinez because of her support and advocacy for illegal immigration.

Sen. Scott Rupp filibustered her nomination for the Director of the Department of Economic Development yesterday and said on the floor of the Senate this morning that he is continuing to oppose the nomination of Linda Martinez.

As the Director of the Department of Economic Development, Ms. Martinez would be charged with distributing tax credits, authorizing small business loans and other economic incentives to enhance Missouri's communities and its economy. Missourians should be concerned that Ms. Martinez's public opposition to the tough state laws enacted last year by Governor Matt Blunt and the General Assembly to fight illegal immigration may lead her and consequently, the Missouri Department of Economic Development, to look the other way. These laws include requiring certification and third-party verification of legal worker status for all tax credit applicants -- measures that seek to save American jobs.

Martinez’ nomination has been tabled until next week.

Disturbing the Dead in Missouri

Yesterday, the Missouri Senate Rules, Joint Rules, Resolutions and Ethics Committee heard arguments for and against the so-called "Equal Rights Amendment." But wait, ERA has been dead for more than 27 years.

Why are Planned Parenthood, NARAL, and the ACLU wasting the time of this committee with an Amendment that the U.S. Supreme Court ruled dead in 1982.(NOW v. Idaho, 459 U.S. 809, 1982)

No man is ever good enough

At her swearing in ceremony as Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton sarcastically said this of her husband, former President Bill Clinton, "I am so grateful to him for a lifetime of all kinds of experiences", and then cackled with laughter. Bill Clinton was right there, and looked embarrassed. You can see the video here.

It seems that no man is ever good enough for a feminist. Her whole career is a result of her husband, but she just cannot admit it.

Tom Daschle Is Booted Out

After the White House and Democrats defended him, Tom Daschle has withdrawn his nomination to be Health and Human Services secretary after much criticism from both the Right and the Left. Associated Press, 2-3-09.

"Look, if spending a whole lot of money made the economy good, we'd have a great economy right now," said Missouri Congressman Todd Akin in response to a comment by fellow Missouri Congressman Lacy Clay in support of the "stimulus" plan.

Both Congressmen did come to a point of agreement during the interview on KMOX: the cost to taxpayers will reach a trillion dollars before the final vote.
