A New Global Currency?

Not if Congressman Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) can help it.

She sponsored H.J.RES.41 after the U.S. Treasury Secretary Geithner made contradictory statements regarding the possibility of a new global currency.

Geithner first agreed to "categorically renounce" the proposal offered by China's top central banker to replace the devalued U.S. dollar with a new global currency, but then, in a speech to the Council on Foreign Relations, he said he was "actually quite open" to the idea of a global currency.

H.J.RES.41 would amend the Constitution of the United States to prohibit the President from entering into a treaty or other international agreement that would provide for the United States to adopt as legal tender in the United States a currency issued by an entity other than the United States.

United Nations attacks religious freedom

David Post reports:
The U.N.'s Human Rights Council has passed a Resolution, put forward by a coalition of Muslim nations, condemning the "defamation of religions."
A comment on his blog points out that the U.N. Human Rights Council is calling for the prohibition of all ideas based on religious superiority or hatred! Of course those Mohammedan nations are the chief promoters of religious hatred in the world today.

Tiller found not guilty: Pro-life forces vow to continue fight

A Kansas jury has found notorious abortionist, George Tiller, not guilty on all counts.

Tiller faced 19 misdemeanor charges that accused him of violating state laws involving late-term abortions. Cheryl Sullinger of Operation Rescue tells OneNewsNow they were disappointed with the verdict.

"We have to remember that these were the weakest of the charges that could have been brought by the state," she notes. "There were 30 charges that had been brought by former Attorney General Phil Kline in 2006 that were dismissed on jurisdictional reasons without having ever been considered on their merit."
Had Tiller faced those charges, Sullinger is confident he would have been convicted. Operation Rescue was at the forefront of the investigation, so Sullinger was asked if they Cheryl Sullinger (Operation Rescue)are finished with Tiller.

"We have a number of other projects, and we believe that there's [sic] plenty of things that Tiller has done that violated the law that eventually, we're just going to keep pressing on until we finally get justice and we finally get a conviction," she concludes.

Global warming has become an obsession

NY Times Magazine has a profile of an "Obama-loving, Bush-loathing liberal" mathematical physicist who says, “all the fuss about global warming is grossly exaggerated.” He also says that climate change has become an “obsession” — the primary article of faith for “a worldwide secular religion” known as environmentalism.

Gordon Brown called "Devalued PM of Devalued Government"

Conservative MEP blasts British Prime Minister Gordon Brown for "spending the country into the worst economic condition of any country:"

See Phyllis Schlafly's column outlining Gordon Brown's misguided governance toward globalism and a "New World Order," in which she urged Americans to reject Brown's call to reconnect with Britain and the Global Community through a "Declaration of Interdependence:"

Unfortunately, as Phyllis explains in her pamphlet "Obama's New World Order," President Obama seems committed to following Gordon Brown's misguided advice:

Victory: 8th Circuit Court Rules in Favor of Missouri Pro-Life license Plates

Kevin Roach, founder and president of Choose Life Missouri, filed suit against the director of Missouri's Dept. of Revenue after a Missouri Joint Committee denied Choose Life's application to obtain a specialty license plate, which promoted a pro-life theme. Eagle Forum Education & Legal Defense Fund joined with two pro-life student groups, one from Washington University law school and the other from St. Louis University, to file an amicus curiae brief in defense of "Choose Life" license plates in Missouri. The 8th Circuit Court affirmed a district court ruling that declared a Missouri law unconstitutional because it gives Missouri officials "unbridled discretion" to pick and choose which specialty plates would be allowed in Missouri. This in effect gave Missouri officials the ability to limit the right of free speech in Missouri.

The $6 Bil National Service Boondoggle

By MICHELLE MALKIN | Posted Wednesday, March 25, 2009 4:20 PM PT

Maybe it's just me, but I find federal legislation titled the GIVE Act and the SERVE Act downright creepy. Even more troubling: the $6 billion price tag on these bipartisan bills to expand government-funded national service efforts.

Volunteerism is a wonderful thing, which is why millions of Americans do it every day without a cent of taxpayer money. But the volunteerism packages on the Hill are less about promoting effective charity than about creating make-work, permanent bureaucracies and left-wing slush funds.

The House passed the Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education Act — or the GIVE Act — last week. The Senate took up the companion SERVE Act on Tuesday afternoon. According to a Congressional Budget Office analysis of the Senate bill (S.277), it would cost "$418 million in 2010 and about $5.7 billion over the 2010-2014 period."

Like most federal programs, these would be sure to grow over time. The bills reauthorize the Clinton-era AmeriCorps boondoggle program and the Domestic Volunteer Service Act of 1973.

The programs have already been allocated $1.1 billion for fiscal year 2009, including $200 million from the porkulus package signed into law last month.

Speaking for the Unborn: The Red Envelope Project

Eagle Forum is excited about the Red Envelope Project and how fast the word is spreading about this simply way to hold President Obama accountable to his own words: "Responsibility begins with conception."

To participate

Get a red envelope (or buy in bulk to distribute at your church or to your friends) You can buy them at Kinkos, or at party supply stores. On the front, address it to:

President Barack Obama
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Ave. N.W.
Washington , D.C. 20500

On the back, write the following message.

This envelope represents one child who died in abortion. It is empty because that life was unable to offer anything to the world. Responsibility begins with conception.

Put it in the mail on March 31st, and send it.

Wouldn't it be great to part of ensuring that 50 million red envelopes, one for every child who died before having a a chance to live, reach the White House?

Free speech threatened

Bob Unruh reports:
A Washington, D.C., man who believes Barack Obama probably isn't eligible to be president – and colorfully stated as much to a federal judge who dismissed a case challenging Obama's residency in the White House – says he got a visit from U.S. marshals for his exercise of free speech.
At least the guy is still a free man. A California man is in jail for expressing anti-abortion opinion, according to the SF paper:
A pastor at a Berkeley church was jailed Friday for 30 days after unsuccessfully arguing that an order requiring him to stay 100 yards away from an Oakland abortion clinic violates his right to free speech.

Walter Hoye, 52, of Union City was the first person convicted under an Oakland ordinance barring protesters from coming within 8 feet of anyone entering an abortion clinic.
I don't know why he had to stay 300 feet away, when everyone else only had to stay 8 feet away.

Shocker: Notre Dame Welcomes Pro-Abort Obama as Commencement Speaker

Barack Obama has lifted the ban on stem cell research and on taxpayer funding of international abortion organizations. He has announced his rescission of the Conscience Rule that protected pro-life doctors and Catholic hospitals.

The Catholic Church led a campaign in January to oppose Obama's announced plan to sign into law the Freedom of Choice Act. Obama has not changed his view.

Obama's support of abortion is no problem for the leading Catholic University Notre Dame. This afternoon Notre Dame welcomed Obama as its commencement speaker in May.

Dodd Admits Role in AIG Bonus Scandal

WASHINGTON -- For a while, the disappearance of an executive bonus restriction from last month's economic stimulus looked like sleight of hand worthy of a Las Vegas stage. No one could explain how the provision faded into thin air. On Wednesday, Sen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn., acknowledged that his staff agreed to dilute the executive pay provision that would have applied retroactively to recipients of federal aid.

Dodd, the chairman of the Senate Banking Committee, told CNN that the request came from Obama administration officials whom he did not identify.

The provision was the subject of new attention this week because, had it survived, it would have prevented the American International Group Inc. from granting $165 million in bonuses to employees of its financial products division.

While the House and Senate reconciled their different stimulus bills last month, the Treasury Department expressed concern with a Senate restriction on bonuses, noting that if it applied to existing compensation contracts it could face a legal challenge.

"The alternative was losing, in my view, the entire section on executive excessive compensation," Dodd told CNN. "Given a choice, this is not an uncommon occurrence here, I agreed to a modification in the legislation, reluctantly."

Obama reads the wrong speech

Phyllis's column this week makes fun of Obama's dependence on the teleprompter.

Yesterday, Rush Limbaugh broadcast a tribute to Hub Schlafly for inventing the teleprompter that made the Obama presidency possible.

No other American President has needed a teleprompter to make casual remarks at White House parties. Yesterday, a teleprompter mistake resulted in Obama's speech being switched with that of the Irish Prime Minister. From the UK press:
As the Irish Taoiseach delivered his St Patrick's Day speech at a White House dinner party, it emerged that he was accidentally reading off the teleprompter one made by President Obama only minutes earlier.

"We begin by welcoming today a strong friend of the United States," he began and continued in that vein for about 20 seconds before - realising he was experiencing more than the usual case of déjà vu - he looked back at the US President and said: "That's your speech!"

Gesturing at the teleprompter, he said: "Why don't these things work for me? Who said these things were idiot-proof?"

Mr Obama is becoming known as the 'teleprompter president' for his excessive use of the prompting screens, which retract when speeches are finished.

Although used for more than half a century, the device was previously employed mainly for set-piece speeches. The current President, however, often uses them for making small introductory statements at the beginning of press conferences.

On this occasion, as a laughing Mr Obama returned to the podium, the script was belatedly switched over to the Taoiseach's text – leaving Mr Obama inadvertently thanking himself for inviting everyone, to further laughter. "First, I'd like to say thank you to President Obama!" the President said.
You would think that a US President ought to at least be able to recognize his own speech when he sees it. The Irish PM apparently thought that the teleprompter would have to be more idiot-proof for the President to be so dependent on it.

You can view some of Obama's feeble attempts to speak without a teleprompter on TeleprompterPresident.com.

Tiller trial begins, pro-lifers gather

Late-term abortionist George Tiller goes on trial in Wichita today.

Operation Rescue and the Christian Defense Coalition have organized prayer rallies at the courthouse. Troy Newman heads Operation Rescue.

"To my knowledge, this is the first time [since 1973 that] an abortionist has been on trial for doing abortions...," says Newman. "And Christians are gathering to pray -- to pray for the jury, to pray for the judge, and ultimately to pray for justice for the preborn children."

Tiller faces 19 criminal counts of illegal late-term abortions. Newman explains those charges.

Judge disapproves of homeschooling religion

A N. Carolina TV station reports:
Raleigh, N.C. — A judge in Wake County said three Raleigh children need to switch from home school to public school. Judge Ned Mangum is presiding over divorce proceeding of the children's parents, Thomas and Venessa Mills.

Venessa Mills was in the fourth year of home schooling her children who are 10, 11 and 12 years old. They have tested two years above their grade levels, she said.

"We have math, reading; we have grammar, science, music,” Venessa Mills said.

Her lessons also have a religious slant, which the judge said was the root of the problem.
Judges have no business making educational decisions.

Judge Knows Better Than Mom: Children Should Go to Public School

A North Carolina mother faces a court order by a Judge Ned W. Mangum to send her three children to public school despite contrary evidence that the Mills' children are well-balanced, socially aware, and excelling in education - even as admitted by the judge.

The provisional court provision states:

"The children have thrived in homeschool for the past four years, but need the broader focus and socialization available to them in public school."

Mills was forced to defend her right to homeschool during divorce proceedings brought on by her husband's unfaithfulness.

Washing machine liberated women

Reuters reports:
Feminists of the world sit down before you read this. The Vatican newspaper says that perhaps the washing machine did more to liberate women in the 20th century than the pill or the right to work.

The submission was made in a lengthy article titled "The Washing Machine and the Liberation of Women - Put in the Detergent, Close the Lid and Relax."

The article was printed at the weekend in l'Osservatore Romano, the semi-official Vatican newspaper, to mark international Women's Day on Sunday.

Obama to repeal Conscience Rule IN ITS ENTIRETY

Obama just published to COMPLETELY repeal the Conscience Rule, which protects doctors and other medical providers from being forced to do abortions and other objectionable procedures.

Planned Parenthood at Health Care Summit

Many key people were excluded from Thursday's health care "summit" at the White House, such as congressmen Dr. Tom Price and Dr. Ron Paul. The summit excluded the leading organization for physicians in private practice, the Association of American Physicians & Surgeons.

But Planned Parenthood was there. You can bet abortion funding will be the central feature of any health care reform by Obama.

The TelePrompter President

Yahoo news reports:
President Barack Obama doesn’t go anywhere without his TelePrompter.

The textbook-sized panes of glass holding the president’s prepared remarks follow him wherever he speaks. ...

Obama’s reliance on the teleprompter is unusual — not only because he is famous for his oratory, but because no other president has used one so consistently and at so many events, large and small.

After the teleprompter malfunctioned a few times last summer and Obama delivered some less-than-soaring speeches, reports surfaced that he was training to wean himself off of the device while on vacation in Hawaii. But no such luck.

His use of the teleprompter makes work tricky for the television crews and photographers trying to capture an image of the president announcing a new Cabinet secretary or housing plan without a pane of glass blocking his face.
This is one of those dirty little secrets about Obama. He is supposed to be a great speaker, but he cannot give a speech without reading it from a script. The press goes to great lengths to conceal this fact by carefully making sure that the Teleprompter does not show up on TV and in pictures. It is a bit like the way the press would never show FDR in a wheelchair so that people would not know that we had a crippled president.

Most Dangerous Woman in America

The mostly-feminist web site wowOwow has a profile on Phyllis:
Is Phyllis Schlafly the Most Dangerous Woman in America?

“Feminists have a death grip on the top level of the Democratic party,” insisted Phyllis Schlafly during an interview last month. “The feminists are a disaster … It’s so unfortunate what they do to young women.” ...

Irrespective of one’s opinion of Schlafly, it’s undeniable that she left an indelible — and perhaps unpalatable — mark on American history. From Barry Goldwater’s presidential candidacy to the rise of the pro-family movement, Schlafly has played a heavy hand in the evolution of America’s political landscape. Her use of media, grassroots organizing, religious groups and good, old-fashioned persuasion brought millions of women — and men — into the political fold and helped forge the modern Republican Party. Cathy Adams, who heads Eagle Forum’s Texas chapter and has been working with the movement since the 1980s, explained her take on Schlafly’s contributions: "[She was able] to bring issues to the bottom shelf and make them easier for people to understand and to realize we all have a responsibility to get involved.” Adams also remarks that Schlafly has worked to “ensure the freedoms with which I grew up."
That is why they say she is dangerous, I guess

Angry Rush Limbaugh Strikes Back; Steele apologizes

Rush Limbaugh on Monday fired back at critics of his fiery weekend speech to the Conservative Political Action Conference, and his biggest target was not on the left.

The conservative talk host saved his sharpest words for Republican Party Chairman Michael Steele. The barbs came in response to Steele's assertion that Limbaugh's challenges to the GOP are "incendiary" and "ugly."

"I hope [Steele] realizes he is not a talking-head pundit," Limbaugh said on his show Monday afternoon in a 20-minute response to Steele's criticism. "It's time for you to go behind the scenes and start doing the work you were elected to do, instead of trying to be some media star, which you're having a tough time pulling off."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Steele, for his part, is backing down on his comments.
"My intent was not to go after Rush – I have enormous respect for Rush Limbaugh. I was maybe a little bit inarticulate . . . There was no attempt on my part to diminish his voice or his leadership….," Steele told Politico Monday
