You Can Still Trust the Communists

If there ever were an example of how one man can make a difference, that man is Dr. Fred Schwarz. An Australian, he came to the United States in the mid-1950s and spent 50 years in our country teaching Americans to understand Communism. His knowledge of the theory, strategy, tactics, objectives, and successes of Communism was profound and total. Dr. Schwarz was a compelling orator who could hold the attention of crowds of many thousands, and also a debater who could never be tripped up on the subject of his expertise. To many, he is best known for his five-day "schools," which he started in 1958, to teach about Communism in depth to willing listeners.

U.S. Finds Another Drug Tunnel

If you think the criminal drug cartels in Mexico are not serious about bringing illegal drugs into the United States, you should read about the new tunnel that American authorities just discovered. The tunnel, 20 feet underground, stretching from Tijuana, Mexico to San Diego, is 1,800 feet long. That is roughly equivalent in length to six football fields. The tunnel is 4 feet high, lighted and ventilated, and featuring a rail system. When Federal authorities discovered the tunnel, they seized 25 tons of marijuana worth more than $20 million, one of the largest-ever drug seizures. U.S. authorities found the end of the tunnel in a San Diego warehouse, in a storage closet. Entrance to the tunnel was through a 3-by-4-foot opening cut into the subfloor. This tunnel was fully operation. The U.S. has discovered about 75 tunnels along the U.S. Mexico border during the last four years.

Cancun: Global Hysteria, Wealth Redistribution

Cathie Adams, Sovereignty & Security chair for Eagle Forum and a correspondent at COP16 for IRN/USA Radio Network, has been attending UN summits since 1995. “The United Nations knows what they want and they put facilitators in place to accomplish their end goal,” she told The New American. “It really has never been a process of nations joining together. It’s a process of nations submitting to an international authority.” She said the finalized Cancun Agreements were “huge” for the UN. “What they came up with in the final draft was a process to begin the scheme where they’re going to be able to have a global tax,” she said, referring to a plan to have a UN body collect taxes on shipping and aviation to supposedly fund “climate” action. “It is incredulous for the UN to demand that a sovereign nation pass laws to fit the UN’s political agenda, but that is essentially what they did,” Adams noted. She also said 2012 — the 20-year anniversary of the climate hysteria — will probably be the big date for a final, binding treaty.  Read NewAmerican article here.

Supreme Court and the Death Penalty

A longtime liberal goal has been to eliminate the death penalty under the “Cruel and Unusual Punishment” clause of the Eighth Amendment of our Constitution. In the 1970s, the U.S. Supreme Court stopped executions of criminals and establish more difficult procedural requirements before imposing this punishment. More recently, the Court flatly prohibited use of the death penalty for any crime committed by someone under age 18 or deemed to have a low IQ.

Sex Survey Upsets Kids and Parents

When a mother picked up her 12-year-old son from a Washington, DC middle school this year, the boy said he had taken a "sex test" in health education class. What's that? The 7th grader was bewildered by some of the questions. The test asked whether he was male, female or transgender; if he is straight or heterosexual, bisexual, gay, lesbian, or not sure; if he could name all four body fluids that can transmit HIV; if he knew the difference between oral, vaginal and anal sex; and if he knew where to get a condom and how to put it on himself and a partner. The survey also asked for his personal experience with sex, drugs, and alcohol.

Democrat governor joins the Birthers

The NY Times reports:
HONOLULU — Gov. Neil Abercrombie of Hawaii, who befriended President Obama’s parents when they were university students here, has been in office for less than three weeks. ...

The governor, a Democrat and former congressman, said he has initiated conversations with the state’s attorney general and the chief of its Health Department about how he can release more explicit documentation of Mr. Obama’s birth ...

"My thought is, rather than get into some kind of argument or play into that mentality, why not just simply try to authenticate this and let the facts speak for themselves?”
Wow, I thought that only the birthers wanted more documentation released. Let's hope that Gov. Abercrombie does what he says, and puts an end to this nonsense.

Are We Grinding America Down?

Today I want to tell you about a new documentary video that won the Grand Prize at the San Antonio Christian Film Festival. The prize was $100,000 -- not bad for a video by a first-time producer. It's called Agenda: Grinding America Down. Here's how this came about.

Wishing You a Merry Christmas

I hope nobody listening to this program is intimidated from wishing everyone you see a Merry Christmas. I don't want anybody to wish me a Merry Multicultural, Inclusive, Secular, Seasonal Holiday. The big majority of Americans are Christians who know Whose birthday is celebrated on Christmas. An estimated 96% of Americans celebrate Christmas, not Kwanza or Diwali or any other strange variation. According to a Rasmussen poll, when shopping 92% of Americans like to say Merry Christmas instead of Happy Holidays. In another Rasmussen survey, 76% of Americans say it's okay to display religious symbols, such as Nativity scenes and menorahs, in public settings; only 11% disagree. 83% believe public schools should celebrate religious holidays.

Border officials allow millions to enter U.S. without ID

While the Obama Administration is busy attempting to control Americans' diets and the Internet, it’s failing miserably to protect the nation from terrorists by allowing millions of travelers to enter the U.S. without proper identification, according to a public-interest watchdog group in the nation's capital.

For more than a year and a half, the Homeland Security agency charged with safeguarding the country’s borders has blown off a crucial measure that requires all travelers to provide a passport or secure identification before entering the United States. The security rule, known as the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative, was implemented at the recommendation of the 9/11 Commission to protect the U.S. from another terrorist attack.

Will National Standards Make Kids Smarter?

Lured by lots of federal money, at least 36 states and the District of Columbia have agreed to give up control of public education standards by their own state and instead substitute national standards written by the federal bureaucracy. Supporters of national standards claim that every country that beats American kids on international tests has implemented national standards. But at least one expert says, don't be misled. Neal McCluskey, education specialist for the Cato Institute, has a different take on this issue. When he joined me on my Saturday call-in radio talk program, McCluskey explained that while it is true the countries that score better than American kids on international tests all use national standards, but the 12 countries at the bottom of those rankings also use national standards. Therefore, there is "no correlation between having national standards and doing well on the tests." Most foreign countries have a national government and are totally unfamiliar with our system of federalism and states rights.

Supreme Court Might Limit Federal Power

It has been ten years since the U.S. Supreme Court struck down any federal law for unconstitutionally intruding into State authority. In 1995, the Supreme Court struck down a federal law prohibiting guns near schools. Then, in the year 2000, the Court struck down one provision of the Violence Against Women Act because that issue is traditionally handled by State law, not federal law.

Liberal Supreme Court Strategy

Over the years, Republican nominations to the U.S. Supreme Court have ranged from cronyism (like Harriet Miers), to happenstance (like Sandra Day O’Connor), to regrettable mistakes (like William Brennan). Many of the best appointments resulted from luck (like William Rehnquist). Liberals do not leave such an important appointment to chance; they carefully analyze which potential nominee would be the most liberal and have the most liberal influence on other Justices.

Television Tells a True Story of Injustice

Network television aired a compelling one-hour documentary in November which demonstrated the total viciousness of many people and officials toward fathers. Aired on ABC's 20-20, the program showed the true story of a former Vancouver, Washington, police officer named Ray Spencer, who spent 20 years in prison based on false charges presented and manipulated by a malicious ex-wife and a female prosecutor who was seeking publicity for being tough on crime.

Hip-Hop Curriculum Slams Founding Fathers

Some government schools have adopted a new education aid known as Flocabulary. This is a program that uses hip-hop songs to help students in grades 3 to 12 memorize vocabulary words and the basic principles of math, science, English, and history. The U.S. history section has raised eyebrows in Oklahoma. Here are some examples why. The chapter covering America's Founding Fathers is titled "Old Dead White Men." It focuses on the perceived faults of our nation's early leaders. I'm sure you've noticed that liberals usually want to concentrate on the sins and mistakes of American heroes rather than on their tremendous accomplishments.

Do Teachers Value Feelings Over Knowledge?

Has the new ideology called Multiculturalism taken over our education system? One survey reports that nearly half of American history teachers believe it is less important that their students understand the history, ideas, rights and responsibilities that bring our people together as Americans than that kids celebrate the different identities and experiences of foreign ethnic, religious and immigrant groups. This radical notion is called social-justice multiculturalism, and it means teaching kids to oppose assimilation into the American culture and instead teaching them they live in an "oppressive" society and then training them to be activists who challenge our political system.

Abuses by Child Protective Services

Two cases involving the agency called Child Protective Services are now before the U.S. Supreme Court. The High Court has agreed to take a case involving the interrogation of a 9-year-old child at school by an agency caseworker and a deputy sheriff about possible sexual abuse at home. They interviewed her for two hours at school without a warrant, court order, parental consent, or exigent circumstances. This case could have a significant impact nationwide.

The new school toys

Here is school news from Detroit Michigan:
The district is spending about $45,000 to give a Verizon smart phone and high-speed Internet service to every third-grader. ...

But the real advantage of the program is that it makes schoolwork fun and engaging, which means children spend more time on their schoolwork, officials say. ...

“We’re searching for grants” to expand the program, she said.

Parents of third-graders at Tuesday’s meeting sounded enthusiastic.

Government Trampling on Parents' Rights

When the liberals and the feminists, including Hillary Clinton, began saying the "village" should raise the child, most people recognized village as a metaphor for government. We're now seeing how intrusive Big Government Nannyism really is. State agencies operating under various names such as Child Protective Services have been assigned the task of protecting kids from abuse or neglect by any adults, especially by their own parents. A new study casts doubt on the value of these agencies.

What Congress Should Do About Our Border

Have you noticed how much coverage we see on the television news about the drug war just south of our border? The biggest war going on in the world today is not in Afghanistan or in Iraq or in Pakistan; it is in Mexico, just a stone's throw across the U.S. border. More people are being killed there than in any of those faraway wars. The killings are terribly depressing to hear about because they include torture, beheadings, kidnappings, and the deliberate murders of whole families and of law enforcement officials. Seven mayors of small towns have been assassinated just this year.

Congress Must Deal With Activist Judges

The new Congress taking office in January was elected because the American people think we've been going in the wrong direction and they want our country to make a right turn. One of the problems Congress should address that has not had much publicity is the problem that supremacist judges have turned the judiciary into the most powerful branch of government, presuming to decide vital controversies that should be decided by our elected representatives. In the Constitution, our Founding Fathers planned for the judiciary to be the weakest of the three branches of government, and they gave Congress the constitutional power to define and limit the jurisdiction of federal judges. That means Congress can decide what kinds of cases the federal courts may take and may not take.

How Congress Can Cut Big Spending

The Members of Congress who were elected last month and take office next month have promised to make significant cuts in federal spending. This promise requires Congress to face up to the nearly $1 trillion currently spent each year on social problems caused by the decline of marriage, which is the major cause of the growth of the welfare state. This breakdown in our culture has caused 40% of Americans to rely on government for all or part of their living expenses. The one and a half million babies born out-of-wedlock last year are 41% percent of all births, and their unmarried moms now look to Big Brother as their financial provider. That's only the start of the costs because most social problems come out of female-headed households.

Today is the 69th anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, the day President Franklin D. Roosevelt said would "live in infamy." Smart Meters Cost Effective or Big Brother Control?

IBM covers every aspect of how convenient, how efficient, how cost effective smart meters will be, etc. But never once do they mention the 'big brother control" that the utility companies will have over our homes, able to turn down whatever they want to turn down - heat, air conditioning, electricity usage; nor do they mention the "health risks" from the high rate of RF -Radio Frequency emissions. All that is kept hush hush.

How Congress Can Reform Health Care

Okay, we've elected a new Congress. Most new Members ran on repealing ObamaCare (or at least defunding it), calling a halt to extravagant Stimulus spending, and extending the Republican tax cuts that are due to expire January 1 (because, as TEA Partiers say, we are Taxed Enough Already). Even if Republicans accomplish all this, that is just the end of the beginning. We need much, much more to repair the damage of two years of extravagant spending.

Gaffe About Shovel-Ready Jobs

Jobs are certainly the number-one issue, but only three weeks before the crucial congressional election on November 2, President Obama casually admitted that his claim last year that his Stimulus spending bill would create 3.5 million "shovel-ready jobs" was not true. That's right; he admitted that those things he talked about never existed. Obama poured salt into his friends' political wounds. He bemoaned that he let himself look like "the same old tax-and-spend liberal Democrat." That's not just how he looks; that's what he is. He has saddled us with colossal debt that mortgages the future of our children and grandchildren with no end in sight.

Same-Sex Marriage Loses Big in 2010

Same-sex marriage was not specifically on any ballot in the November 2nd election, but it nevertheless was a big loser. The voters in Iowa bounced off the bench three of the state supreme court judges who had ruled same-sex marriage constitutional, overriding the wishes of the Iowa people and the law passed by the Iowa Legislature. Republicans took over the Iowa House of Representatives and made significant gains in the Iowa Senate. That raises the possibility that the Iowa legislature will put a constitutional marriage amendment on the ballot, which has been blocked for years by the Democrats.

Schlafly to Senate Republicans: Thank You for Hearing the American People

WASHINGTON, Dec. 1, 2010

WASHINGTON, Dec. 1, 2010 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Phyllis Schlafly, president and founder of the pro-family organization Eagle Forum issued the following statement about Senate Republicans' unanimous commitment to block all legislative business until Senate Democrats hold a vote on stopping the massive tax increase set to take effect when the Bush era tax cuts expire at the end of the year.

"On behalf of Eagle Forum and the families we represent, we thank Senate Republicans for listening to the American people and demanding that the government deal with the most important legislative issue at hand."

Phyllis Schlafly's most recently column "Coming: Gov't By Regulation Instead Of Law" is linked on the front page of the Drudge Report today. Check it out!

Judges Get Their Comeuppance

The most important decision the voters made on November 2 may turn out to be Iowa defeating three state supreme court judges who had voted to make same-sex marriage constitutional, contrary to the wishes of the people in Iowa and their elected representatives. The reverberations are cascading nationwide, and we hope this landmark election signals the beginning of the end of rule by arrogant supremacist judges.
