How to Combat Vote Fraud
The problem of vote fraud has long been a big problem. Our whole system of "we the people" being sovereign, with laws made only by our elected representatives, depends on elections being honest, only U.S. citizens being allowed to vote, and ascertaining the identity of each voter so that we can be sure no one is voting more than once in the same election.

Ten Tales for Future Patriots
There are not many books designed to teach children in the early grades an appreciation for the principles on which our nation was founded. So on this Memorial Day, let's talk about a book called Founders' Fables: Ten Tales for Future Patriots. It was written by an elementary school teacher named Laurie Cockerell, who cleverly used her knowledge of what kinds of characters and language appeal to young children.

What Students Learn and Don't Learn
If you are attending college to get teacher certification, you will probably be required to attend classes on "multicultural education." That is supposed to bring diversity to the classroom and prepare teachers to teach pupils of various ethnic or national backgrounds. The textbooks in these courses typically include a book by Paulo Freire, a Brazilian socialist who preached that society is divided into oppressors and oppressed. Other required readings teach that Americans are an institutionally racist society. These courses are designed to train teachers to create political radicals to promote "progressive" social change.

Most Teachers Don't Push Evolution
Recent Gallup polls found that eight out of ten Americans believe God created humans in their present form, or at least that He guided the process of human evolution. Apparently some of those 80% are public high school biology teachers, because creationism is flourishing in classrooms despite federal court rulings that creationism or intelligent design cannot be taught. A recent survey of 926 public high school biology teachers revealed that only 28% consistently follow National Research Council recommendations to teach evolution as the unifying theme of biology, 13% explicitly advocate creationism or intelligent design, and most teachers, said they are “neither strong advocates for evolutionary biology or explicit endorsers of nonscientific alternatives.”

Analyzing President Obama's Worldview
President Obama has been called everything from a civil rights leader to political messiah to closet Muslin to radical socialist. Best-selling author Dinesh D'Souza now offers a provocative alternative: Barack Obama is an anti-colonialist committed to reducing what he views as America's oppressive global dominance and extraordinary consumption. Most Americans don't understand this point of view. We have been extraordinarily generous with our treasure and our military to help so many other countries. Dinesh D'Souza explains that Obama inherited a worldview from his father, who was a drunken socialist African tribesman during Kenya's struggle for independence from Britain.

Literacy Failure Has a Simple Remedy
Realizing that learning to read is fundamental to education, the public school lobby is yelping about proposed cuts in grants for literacy programs. Yes, I agree that literacy should be job number one, but after all these years why do we have to go to the unnecessary expense of passing out money to find a good reading program?

Why Can't We Cut Education Spending?
As the new Congress wrestles with ways to cut our giant budget deficit, Barack Obama threw down the gauntlet. He said: "We cannot cut education." But why not? If we are going to cut programs that are proven to have failed to achieve their goals, federal spending on education should be at the top of the list. Federal spending on public schools was given two specific goals in the law called "No Child Left Behind." It required states to set targets to have all students proficient in reading and math by 2014, make annual progress toward this goal, and in particular to narrow the gap between higher-income and minority students.

The Internet Influences Courts
In the oral argument for a case involving campaign finance law being heard by the U.S. Supreme Court in March, Chief Justice John Roberts asked one of the attorneys, "I checked the Citizens Clean Elections Commission website this morning, and it said" that this campaign finance law is intended to "level the playing field." That is an unconstitutional purpose under the First Amendment. Government is not allowed to get into the business of trying to level the playing field of free speech, because in practice that would mean censoring some speech. Then Justice Roberts added, "Why isn't that clear statement on your website evidence that" you should lose your case?

How About Single-Sex Lunches?
Middle school is the age that boys and girls begin to really notice each other. Recess and lunch are times when schools may have some flirting, teasing and rough-housing, as boys and girls try to impress one another. The principal at Pleasant Valley Middle School in Wichita, Kansas noticed that many students were so focused on socializing that they didn't get around to eating lunch. He said, "It seems like 80% of our students were throwing away whole lunches. Then they'd be hungry later." He said that "any unstructured time in school is a challenge. ... Part of that time is used for showing off in front of other kids." Sometimes inappropriate interactions start at lunch and then are carried over into recess and the classroom.

Smithsonian Sells "Made in China" Products
Every year, four million visitors go to the Smithsonian National Museum of American History where they can see such priceless treasures from George Washington as one of his military uniforms and the top hat Abraham Lincoln wore the night of his assassination. But a big problem has come to light. Some Congressmen discovered that items on sale in the Smithsonian gift shop are made in China. Miniature busts of our greatest presidents sold in the gift shop are stamped with a very un-American inscription: "crafted in China." The gift shop is selling T-shirts with the text of the U.S. Constitution on it that is labeled "made in Nicaragua."

Court Rules For Fuzzy Math, Against Parents
The fact that the top performers in math are almost entirely boys really irritates the feminists, who try to pretend there are no intellectual differences between boys and girls. But year after year, the top scores on any competitive math exam in high school or college continue to be overwhelmingly male. Fewer than 1% of the Putnam Fellows, an honor given to the top five students on the annual college math competition, have been female. Similar disparities exist at the top levels of high school math. Girls do better than boys in verbal subjects and tests, but that is no consolation to feminists who believe the false dogma that there are absolutely no gender differences.

The Five-Year Party
A few weeks ago on my Saturday live talk show heard on some of these stations and on my website, I interviewed a college professor and author, Craig Brandon, who wrote a book called The Five-Year Party: How Colleges Have Given Up on Educating Your Child and What You Can Do About It
. He describes the waste of money that students and their parents spend (or borrow) to pay for the college education that they think is the gateway to a good job and a prosperous life, plus the waste of young Americans' prime years of energy and creativity. He says that as many as 400 universities are actually subprime schools which have effectively given up on education and can be accurately called party schools, and that the majority of college students take five years in these party schools, not four, to graduate. That doesn't even count the 40% of students who enroll as freshmen but leave without getting a degree.

Courageous College Students Speaks Out Against Communist Indoctrination in 'Labor Studies' Course
In a course called "Introduction to Labor Studies" at the University of Missouri, Phil Christofanelli encountered two professors, Don Giljum and Judy Ancel, who taught students how to use illegal bargaining tactics during union disputes, invited a member of the Communist Party to speak and recruit, and spent considerable amounts of time training students how to oppose Right-to-Work legislation. The course didn't have an academic text book, but used material that was written and published by the editor of a socialist magazine. The University of Missouri is defending the professors on the grounds of "academic freedom."

Pushing Women into Military Combat
The feminists in the Obama Administration are pushing hard to get women in the infantry, armor units, and direct combat with the enemy. Can you believe: the Pentagon has set up a Military Leadership Diversity Commission. It issued a report in March that it wants the military to resemble the ethnic makeup of America. This Commission said women should be assigned to land combat units in order to "create a level playing field" in promotions "for all service members who meet the qualifications." The Pentagon apparently wants to repeal the 1994 law that prevents women from being assigned to direct land combat in the infantry, most artillery, and tank units.

How to Avoid College Debt
If you are a student trying to decide where to go to college, or if you are a student's parents wondering if it is worth taking out a second mortgage or invading your retirement fund to send your child to college, I suggest you read a new book called Debt-Free U: How I Paid for an Outstanding College Education Without Loans, Scholarships or Mooching Off My Parents
by Zac Bissonnette. This book provides a lot of good information -- some of it very needed -- for anyone about to make a college decision.

More Education Not the Key to Jobs
Many members of the Obama Administration are singing the false tune that more federal spending on public schools and colleges is the key to more jobs. Domestic Policy Adviser Melody Barnes used a stream of buzzwords: education is the "key to winning the future" and we must "out-educate the world." Vice President Joe Biden chimed in by launching his "College Completion Tool Kit," a bunch of expensive suggestions to increase the number of college graduates by 50%. He wants to shift the focus of government spending from high school completion to college completion. Biden was the lead speaker at a conference called "The First Annual Building a Grad Nation Summit" held in Washington in March. His plan sets forth vague goals such as developing an action plan, accelerating learning, and concealing the fact that many students who are now admitted to college can't do college work and must take "remedial" courses.

Education Spending Won't Create Jobs
Contrary to what some politicians are telling us, more taxpayer spending to send more students to college will not reduce unemployment or improve the economy. That will only finagle the statistics by listing young people as students instead of as unemployed. Other politicians recite the falsehood that solving the unemployment problem requires "more investments in education." Investment is just a favorite liberal code word for more spending and higher taxes.

Feminist Whining About Science Sexism
For the last ten years, the feminists have been whining that women scientists are victims of sex discrimination. The essence of feminism is to complain that an oppressive patriarchy is preventing women from earning more money and getting the academic appointments and recognition they think they ought to have. The National Science Foundation and other experts have refuted the feminists' crybaby act, but the feminists ignore the evidence and continue to proclaim their victimhood and demand taxpayers' money to remedy it.

Bachmann Exposes $105 Billion Secret
Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, who was a tax lawyer before she was elected to office, has again demonstrated her extraordinary leadership. She discovered $100 billion of taxpayers’ money that Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi hid in ObamaCare. When ObamaCare was passed by the Senate on Christmas Eve 2009, Senators had less than 72 hours to read 383 pages of amendments to the 2,074-page bill. Then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi famously said, “We have to pass the bill so that then you can find out what is in it.”

Ronald Reagan's Policy on Trade
The promoters of what is mistakenly called "free trade" often cite Ronald Reagan as authority, claiming he was a believer and advocate of free trade. That's not true. Reagan's economic and trade policies were grounded in the belief that his number-one task was to win the Cold War and defeat the evil empire, so his trade policy was subordinated to that goal.

Supreme Court Ducks Ruling on Ten Commandments
The ACLU and atheistic organizations are continuing their campaign to banish every sign of religion from public life, especially displays of the Ten Commandments. In 2005, two Ten Commandments cases reached the U.S. Supreme Court, and the justices split on the rulings. The Ten Commandments display in Texas was judged to be OK by a 5-to-4 decision, and the Ten Commandments display in Kentucky was banned by a 5-to-4 decision because the justices thought the motive in hanging it was religious, so they ruled that motive violated the First Amendment. This silly distinction makes no constitutional sense. It's also ridiculous because there is a mural on the wall of the Supreme Court showing Moses holding the Ten Commandments tablets.

Obama and Mexican Trucks
Barack Obama's quiet deal with the president of Mexico to allow Mexican trucks to carry their loads onto U.S. highways and roads is new evidence of his high-handed solo behavior that has become Standard Operating Procedure in Obama's Administration. Here are some reasons why this plan is dangerous and should be stopped by Congress and public protest.
