A Look at Planned Parenthood A Look at Planned Parenthood A Look at Planned Parenthood

CNS News has just reported a detailed analysis of how the organization called Planned Parenthood receives and spends its money. And we're talking about big money, indeed. According to its latest annual report, which is for fiscal year 2010, the Planned Parenthood Federation of America received $487.4 million dollars from the U.S. taxpayers in the 2010 fiscal year, and performed 329,455 abortions. This was an increase of money donated by the U.S. taxpayers over the previous year of more than $100 million. The current report compared with previous reports shows a rather steady increase in both taxpayers' money received and abortions performed.

According to Planned Parenthood's annual report for fiscal year 2008 "adoption referrals to other agencies" totalled 4,912 for that one year. In fiscal year 2010, that number was only 841, a big decrease. The fiscal year 2010 annual report also shows that Planned Parenthood Federation of America's net assets are over $1 billion dollars.

You will remember that when the Senate and House of Representatives were vigorously debating what items might be cut from the appropriation bill in order to reduce the federal deficit, there was considerable controversy over a proposed cut in the taxpayer donation to Planned Parenthood. Senator Harry Reid then said that the Planned Parenthood donation was the one item that was absolutely, positively non-negotiable. Whatever the feminists demand from the Obama Administration, they get.

Voters should take a good look at the many controversial items in the federal appropriation bills and then tell their Members of Congress which ones should get the axe.
