The cycle of poverty--one might refer to it in economic terms, another might call it a phenomenon or a trap, and others may see it as a norm. Regardless, most Americans want it to end. But not Barack Obama.
Our President sees it as a framework that leads to a system of dependency, ignorance, and oppression.
The cycle of poverty is a vicious one. It has the potential to oppress generations of families when we become immune to the intellectual, social, and cultural capital needed to escape it. Once entered into this cycle, more and more Americans are discovering just how difficult it is to separate themselves from a swollen and struggling welfare state – a state our President only intends to grow. And drastically.
While campaigning for the Presidency in 2008, President Obama assured us he planned to “fundamentally transform the United States,” and that he was going to “spread the wealth.” And he’s doing just that.
Here’s your “hope” and “change,” folks.
Welcome to Barack Obama’s America--a place where generations of families can expect to rely entirely on a broken, bankrupt government. A nation where children will grow up poor and oppressed and raise their children within the same, vicious cycle of poverty that enveloped them.
Obama’s goal here is simple: make the American people dependent on government.
He started by passing a billion dollar stimulus, outsourcing jobs, and taking over college loans. Then, he declared healthcare a universal right, passing billions over to the taxpayers, and then granted amnesty to hundreds of thousands.
And his latest endeavor: loading the welfare rolls.
In 1996, former President Bill Clinton signed welfare reform that changed the course of the welfare system in the U.S. and succeeded in reducing its rolls by almost half. This reform imposed a 5 year limit on benefits, required able-bodied recipients to work, and incentivized states to create jobs for welfare recipients.
As Phyllis Schlafly writes in her latest column, the welfare system once boasting “Aid to Families with Dependent Children” appropriately became “Temporary Assistance for Needy Families,” as a direct result of this reform, and recipients were placed on the path to self-sufficiency.
But, that does not fit well in the President’s vision for America. So last month, President Barack Obama continued his fundamental transformation of the United States by gutting the work requirement with one swipe of his pen. For more details on this costly & illegal action, click here.
