Teachers Unions Video Propaganda

The California Federation of Teachers has released a video called "Tax The Rich." The Chicago Teachers Union has issued a similar video called "Fat Cats." Both of these union-created propaganda videos try to use class warfare in order to influence debates about how much more tax money we should put into the public schools. The California video is narrated by leftwing actor Ed Asner. It originally included a really disgusting scene showing a so-called "rich person" urinating on the heads of "poor people." Viewers were so outraged that the union had to delete that scene from the video. However, it is now only slightly less provocative. The theme of the Chicago Teacher Union video, called "Fat Cats," is that the 1% of rich people do not pay their "fair share" of taxes.

The Chicago Teachers Union video even criticizes their friend, Mayor Rahm Emanuel, who is a big supporter of President Obama. The union is angry at him because he ended their strike last September by agreeing to a pay raise of only 17% for teachers. The video expresses anger at anyone who doesn't give the union everything it wants. The union's video also ignores the fact that Obama's Stimulus package gave billions of dollars to finance elementary and secondary schools, to extend unemployment benefits, to extend Cobra health care coverage, to increase the food stamp program, and to increase most of the welfare handouts. Chicago schools are already facing a billion-dollar deficit and have about 200,000 more empty seats than students.

I believe that most adults can see through the blatant propaganda in these two videos. We hope these videos were not intended for classroom use. However, it is important for parents to keep a watchful eye on what is taught in the classroom to make sure it is truth, not leftwing propaganda.
