Brooks pretends amnesty is conservative

The NY Times and PBS TV try to pass David Brooks off as a conservative, and he writes:
It’s beginning to look as though we’re not going to get an immigration reform law this year. It’s beginning to look as though we’re not going to get an immigration reform law this year. ... After all, the Senate bill fulfills the four biggest conservative objectives. Conservatives say they want economic growth. ... Conservatives say they want to bring down debt. ... Conservatives say they want to reduce illegal immigration. ... Conservatives say they want to avoid a European-style demographic collapse.
Laura Ingraham debunks him.

Brooks has a silly straw man attack. We could cut illegal immigration by just legalizing all the illegals. We could increase GDP by importing cheap labor and putting Americans out of work. We could bring down debt by increasing taxes. These are not conservative.

Not sure what he means by a "European-style demographic collapse." Some of those European countries are importing millions of foreigners who are sharply changing the culture. Time will tell what is collapsing.
