States Defend Life And Law

Momentum is increasing in Congress to defund Planned Parenthood because of a series of undercover videos exposing Planned Parenthood executives' discussing prices for selling baby body parts, but it is not just Congress that Planned Parenthood has to worry about. Several states are also taking the initiative to open an investigation into this abortion provider. Kansas Governor Sam Brownback is spearheading the effort in Kansas to investigate these horrifying videos. Brownback said "Kansas remains committed to a culture that respects the dignity of life at all stages. Recent videos show Planned Parenthood employees treating the unborn as commodities as they discuss the sale of a live baby’s organs. This does not reflect the culture of life most Kansans want." Governors in Georgia, Louisiana, Texas, Ohio, Indiana, Arizona and Missouri have launched similar investigations.

Texas Governor Greg Abbot said after the second video was released that "Today's new grotesque revelations necessitate that Texas expand its investigation into this abhorrent practice." Georgia Governor Nathan Deal issued a statement saying the Department of Community Health and Department of Public Health will conduct a joint review of the clinics "to ensure this horrific practice is not occurring here." Clearly, the work of the Center For Medical Progress has sparked a movement on every level of government to investigate America’s largest provider of abortions.

On the national level, Republican leaders in Congress are weighing a series of votes to defund Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood said it received $528 million of taxpayer finding in the last fiscal year. These horrifying videos have provided pro-life Americans with the best evidence that they have had in years to take away Planned Parenthood’s funding. More states should join Kansas, Texas, and the others to ensure that Planned Parenthood knows that the American people will not tolerate the government giving our money to an organization with no regard for the law or the life of a baby.
