Transgender-Focused Books for Children

Liberal educators are pushing harder than ever to indoctrinate students with pro-gay propaganda. Last month Scholastic Press publishers released a new book by an author who identifies as “genderqueer.” The book is titled “George” and is about a boy who tells his family and friends that he is transgender. The book is written for a middle-school audience. In order to gauge how the book would be received, Scholastic Press sent 10,000 copies to teachers for review. Not surprisingly, most of the responses that they received from these public school teachers were in favor of the book. Last year, Disney Hyperion published a similar book for children as young as 10. The most well-known children’s book about transgenderism called “I Am Jazz” was written for children as young as 4 years old.

This obviously biased indoctrination aimed at public school children is not going unnoticed by everyone. Dr. Paul McHugh, former psychiatrist-in-chief for Johns Hopkins Hospital and its current Distinguished Service Professor of Psychiatry wrote in the Wall Street Journal that “transgenderism is a ‘mental disorder’ that merits treatment, that sex change is ‘biologically impossible,’ and that people who promote sexual reassignment surgery are collaborating with and promoting a mental disorder.” Dr. McHugh continues to point out that “studies show between 70 to 80 percent of children who express transgender feelings ‘spontaneously lose those feelings over time.’”

It is impossible for children who are 4 years old to grasp the complexity of issues like transgenderism and everyone knows it. Children’s books like these are a blatant attempt by liberal educators to preempt the rights of the parents. Pay close attention to the lessons taught in your child’s school and to the homework they bring home. It’s time for Americans to stand up against this infringement of parental rights.
