Abortion Survivor Speaks Out

Feminists claim to stand for women’s rights, but there are millions of women whose most fundamental right, the right to life, has been taken away from them simply because they have not yet left their mother’s womb. One woman who was miraculously saved from an abortion went to Congress to testify to lawmakers about how abortion nearly ended her life. In 1977, Gianna Jessen’s mother went to an abortion clinic and allowed a doctor to attempt a saline abortion. In a saline abortion, the baby is suffocated to death after being burned alive with a caustic chemical. After 18 hours of being burned by the chemical, Gianna was delivered alive at the abortion clinic.

She told Congress. "Thankfully, the abortionist was not at work yet. Had he been there, he would have ended my life with strangulation, suffocation, or leaving me there to die. Instead, a nurse called an ambulance, and I was rushed to a hospital."

As a side effect of the attempted abortion procedure, Gianna will have to live with cerebral palsy for the rest of her life. Because of her condition and her miraculous birth, she has dedicated her life to telling her story and saving as many unborn lives as she can.

That is why she appeared before Congress to call for an end to federal funding for Planned Parenthood. She told them: “Every time we falter in courage as individuals and fail to confront this evil, I wonder how many lives have been lost in our silence.” At one point in her speech she called out the feminists for their hypocritical view on this critical issue. It is cruel irony that abortion is called a “women’s rights” issue when so many innocent girls have been killed as a result of it.
