What To Do About Sanctuary Cities

Conservatives know that sanctuary cities are a big problem for America. Not only do they lead to violent criminal offenders being released back onto our streets to prey on innocent American citizens, but they also are a serious violation of federal law. Even the District of Columbia, the very place where the federal government is housed, is among the hundreds of cities that refuse to work with the federal Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agency, called ICE. What’s even more shocking is that many of these municipalities that blatantly refuse to hand over felonious illegals to ICE are given “federal law enforcement assistance funding” every year as payment for the very thing that they are not doing. These facts should have every American wondering what can be done to stop this criminal action from taking place.

Some congressmen and women are taking action. Senator Richard Shelby of Alabama, who chairs the Appropriations subcommittee, wrote to Attorney General Loretta Lynch requesting that none of the $2 billion that is distributed by the Department of Justice go to these rogue municipalities. Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas introduced a bill that would defund sanctuary cities. In the House, Representative Lou Barletta of Pennsylvania introduced another bill that would require that municipalities comply with federal immigration authorities. Representative Trey Gowdy of South Carolina and Senator Jeff Sessions have taken things a step further by introducing legislation that would authorize states to crack down on illegal immigration and expand the power of ICE to detain dangerous illegals.

It is vitally important for Americans to stand proudly against the dangerous practices of sanctuary cities. It’s a matter of protecting the safety of Americans in our own home country.
