Obama’s Catch And Release Policy

Border patrol agents have been saying for several years that President Obama is tying their hands and making it impossible to do their jobs. Testimony by Agent Brandon Judd, the president of the National Border Patrol Council, is especially outrageous because it exposes the fact that President Obama is telling Homeland Security to violate his own policy. Obama insisted that he would make it a priority to enforce the laws on the books. He said that illegal immigrants caught at the border would be deported. Clearly that was just his political salesmanship. As Agent Judd pointed out, President Obama is actually encouraging more illegals to come to America by forcing border patrol agents to release the ones they catch at the border.

America should protect our borders. We should build a wall, stop visa overstays, and increase the number of border patrol agents. The easiest and cheapest step is simply to allow the agents to do their job. Tying the hands of border patrol agents encourages more aliens to come to our country illegally and become a burden to America.

Agent Judd exposed President Obama’s “catch and release” border policy before the House Judiciary Committee. He testified that this new policy “amounts to amnesty” because illegals are allowed to stay indefinitely in the United States. Top Homeland Security officials told border patrol agents not to detain illegal aliens caught crossing the border because they are clogging up the courts. Deputy Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas told agents, “We should not place someone in deportation proceedings, when the courts already have a 3-6 year backlog.” According to Agent Judd, many illegals who would be easy deportation cases are being set free in the United States because of this policy. Even illegals who are caught committing crimes in the US are being freed by this policy.
