We Don’t Need Voting by Murderers

Voting is something for law-abiding citizens to do in shaping the future of our Nation. It is like service on a jury. Both are essential activities to preserve our freedom and prosperity. We do not want just anyone to be allowed to serve on a jury, or to vote. People who are in our country illegally, for example, should not cast ballots to pick our next leaders. People who are only 14 or 16 years old are too immature to make jury decisions or vote in elections. We also do not want murderers, rapists, and other convicted criminals sitting on our juries or voting in elections. But Democrats have figured out that convicted felons are more likely to vote for the Democratic Party than for the Republican Party, so liberals push for granting the right to vote and to serve on juries to people who have been convicted of murder, rape or other horrible crimes.

The Democratic governor of Virginia, Terry McAuliffe, is a close friend of Hillary Clinton, and Virginia is a swing state in presidential elections. There are 200,000 convicted felons in Virginia who could swing the outcome in that state from Republican to Democratic this November. The Democratic governor himself was elected by a margin of only 50,000 votes. Governor McAuliffe, without approval by the Virginia legislature, just ordered that 200,000 convicted felons there will get the right to vote in the upcoming November election.

The Speaker of the Virginia House responded with this statement: “I am stunned yet not at all surprised by the governor’s action.” He pointed out how the Democratic Governor probably aspires to be picked by Hillary Clinton for a Cabinet position if she becomes president. The Governor’s unprecedented order affects juries, because he allows persons convicted of serious crimes to serve on them. We do not want murderers sitting on juries, and we do not need them voting either.
